March 19, 2004 MILLER HOPES IT'S HIS TIME AGAIN
Perhaps the only drawback to a pitcher having great success in his first two
years in the big leagues is the high expectation that he's going to be that good
every year.
Few pitchers were as effective as Wade Miller in his first two full seasons
compiling a 31-14 record. Last season health issues limited the
Pennsylvania-native to a 14-13 record with a 4.13 ERA over 33 starts. Decent
numbers for many pitchers, but not for someone of Miller's caliber. The success
and failure of a team can never rest on one player, but Miller's performance
could have a huge influence on how the Astros pitching staff fares in 2004.
