After our win in the holiday parade and a brief respite, Asheville on Bikes is
in full swing
with a slew of upcoming events. Please save the following dates to participate
in
cultivating Asheville's vibrant bike culture.
Feb. 26th - City Council is tentatively scheduled to review and possibly adopt
Asheville's
Bike Master (see attached) plan. It's vital that our city leaders know we want
bicycle
infrastructure throughout our city. If you're interested in getting the word
out, reply to

Feb 23 – The second annual Bike Love.
It's an opportunity to celebrate all things bike with local beer and music.
Headlining this
year's Bike Love is Count Clovis, featuring Justin Perkins and Drew Heller of
Toubab Krewe,
Pierce Edens and the Dirty Work (http://www.pierceedens.com/ )and ProBikes' own,
Marty
Gallagher with Red Dirt Floor.
This event is a fundraiser for AoB and the Bike Locker Project – see attached
for more
details.
Feb 5 – Asheville's Mardi Gras Parade
AoB is invited to dress up and ride with the Mystic Mountain Krewe in
Asheville's second
annual Mardi Gras Parade. This year's theme is "Flash, Class or Trash." Whatever
that
means to you, go with it.
It's a short ride that begins at Joli Rouge and culminates at Prichard Park with
the music of
Firecracker Jazz Band (http://www.firecrackerjazz.com/) and the dance of Unifire
(http://
www.unifiredance.com/).

Feb 1 – Mardi Gras Prep Party
AoB participants are encouraged to costume it up for the event. The Friday
before the
parade, AoB is invited to Mike's home for a bike flag making party. If you're
interested in
collective freak flag formation, reply to ashevilleonbikes@... for
details.
Furthermore, a friend sent this to AoB from cyclingnews.com. We found it
inspiring and
thought we'd pass on the progressive news. Certainly, Asheville is on the brink
of such
change.
Respectfully,
Asheville on Bikes
