A friend forwarded me this copy of the Burningtown News, an email newsletter from Franklin, NC. I have trimmed it down to just the relevant parts for your enjoyment.
Hey Jamie,
How've you been? I'm forwarding this because there's something that made me think of you. This is a funny little online newspaper from one of the old communities here in Franklin; it's put together by Merritt Fouts, a man who used to be the school superintendant here- he's pretty cool and actually more open-minded than he lets on in his little editorial comments.
Anyways, if you scroll down towards the end of the page, there's a picture of an older couple w/ a younger girl titled 'Caitlin w/ her Papaw & Mamaw at graduation' and you need to read the little article under the picture. I had to laugh- you'll understand why ;) Oh, the people he refers to by initials are his wife, his daughter, & son-in-law.

BURNINGTOWN NEWS FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 17, 2007
I guess the NEXT thing I should tell you about was our trip to Asheville for Caitlyn’s graduation. It should have been included in last Sunday’s news, but we didn’t get back until late, and then I didn’t Caitlyn’s picture until this morning because ST took it and sent it to me. Here is a picture of Caitlyn after the graduation. We couldn’t get a good picture of anyone from where we were sitting so I won’t show you her picture graduating. The title of this picture is:CAITLYN WITH PAPAW AND MAMAW AFTER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATIONCaitlyn’s graduation was Saturday morning, June 9, at 11:00 at the Asheville Civic Center. It was over around 12:45 and I was beginning to get kinda hungry. GT, ST, LF and I had gone over there together. GT was driving us around. After the graduation, we thought it would be good if us Burningtown Folk walked around the big city for a little bit before going on to LG’s house. So we did. We walked down toward the center of the city. We came across a F. W. Woolworth Store which said out front that they had a luncheonette. So I thought it would be good if we went in there to eat. My thought was that it would not be too awfully expensive. When we got in there it was not a Woolworth 5 and 10 like it should have been but had been converted to an art store with a lunch counter and a few tables scattered here and there. There was also a nice wrought iron table setting outside the store on the sidewalk. LF and ST said they were gonna go back out there to sit so they could watch the city people move around. I thought that would be good because I kinda wanted to know what city folks were like and how it was in such a big town. They (LF and ST) said me and GT could get their food and bring it out there. Well after we had ordered, I asked one of the people waiting at the counter if they had a bath room in there. She said they did and pointed toward the back and said it was back there. So I left GT standing there waiting for the food to arrive. When I got back out, I could see ST and LF sitting at a table on the inside. When I got back to where they were, I said, “I thought we were going to sit outside so we could see the people moving around.”ST and LF said they were sitting out at that table when they looked coming down the street there were about 20 naked people riding bicycles. ST and LF said the people did not have a thing on. They weren’t gonna sit out there and eat while naked people were riding around. I would kinda like to have gone out there to sit so I could see what the people of Asheville wore or didn’t wear. LF and ST were in a small state of shock so we didn’t go. I thought shore the police would get after the naked people, but they did not. Someone said that it seemed to be a usual thing.
