As the others have said, yes you can carry openly on your own property absent
any local laws barring it.
Most of the time I carry an M-16A2 on patrol sling with one of the three--.223,
.22LR, or 9x19 upper receiver. It's light, it's accurate and I can effectively
deal with any turtles or snakes I see around the ponds with it! :^D Nobody
ever gives me any guff about it either (but then who would!).
