Re: [ArabianPonyRegistryofAmerica] Welcome new members
Thanks for the welcome! I'm from SE Alabama and we just purchased our son a yearling pony. He was being marketed as an unregistered sport pony. We picked him up this weekend and I finally got my hands on a copy of his parents' papers. His sire is registered as a Half Arabian w/ AHA. The sire's parents are both registered and approved with American Sport Pony Registry (the dam received First Premium approval), but he himself was never registered w/ ASPR that I am aware of. I'm actually just now trying to gather info on Arabian Ponies and American Sport Ponies. My son is almost 6 and has expressed an interest in showing his pony in the long run, but we have a lot of learning to do first. We have 3 children and each child has their own horse/pony. We also homeschool which gives the kids a chance to spend lots of time with the horses. My 9 year old rescued a racking horse filly with his birthday money almost 2 years ago. This past spring when she turned 3 he started her himself and has done a wonderful job.My youngest wanted to have the same experience so we located this pony as his birthday present (he'll be 6 in Dec.). I was pleasantly surprised by his pedigree. His breeder just never bothered to get him registered even though both parents are registered w/ different registries. He'll be 2 in April but is already so calm and laid-back. He doesn't have a name yet but hopefully we'll find something that suits him before long. I'm not sure about what I need to do to go about getting him registered or what registries he's eligible for and would appreciate any info and help. This is what I know about him:
Dam: Snow Pearl , reg. w/ American Paint Pony Registry
Sire: Rockridge Pandemonium (Half Arabian AHA) by Starglow Questor & out of Rockridge Cookie
That's as far as I've gotten so far. I do know this little guy is a very nice mover. I have a friend that breeds Trakehners & Holsteiners so I do have a little bit of experience with Warmbloods so I know enough to recognize a horse with potential. I really want to do the right thing with this pony for my son. Any pointers & tips would be appreciated. I've only got 2 pictures of him right now, but they can be seen at :
