This is a local petition to show that we are willing to help unite our local Bay Area community to show their interest to donate, sponsor, and share ethnic Filipino art and ancient artistic artifacts from the Philippines at the Asian Art Museum. We are calling for volunteers to endorse their signature as evidence that there is a growing academic arts community who is willing to be Asian Art Museum members, Asian Art Museum volunteers, and Asian Art Museum financial donors. Our petition also serves as a way for to scout, recruit, and unite peoples of all backgrounds, race, and ethnicity to sign this petition and show their support for the initiation of The Filipino Arts and Culture Committee's campaign to bring more contemporary Filipino arts,ancient Filipino tribal arts,and all available donated art objects from the Philippines to San Francisco's Asian Art Museum. We are people from different professional backgrounds who wish to advocate higher awareness in bringing and sha!
ring Filipino art to the museum and increase the Filipino art collection from 2 objects out of thousands to 100 objects. The Filipino Arts and Culture Committee for the Asian Art Museum is a interest group which focuses on 5 main qualities that reflect our petition:
1.A fun, up-tempo group of Filipino/American
professionals dedicated to cultivating the next
generation of Filipino art enthusiasts for the Asian
Art Museum
2.An educational partner organization located at the
museum that hosts Philippine art lectures, Filipino
art study groups, and other adult learning
opportunities in the study of the Philippines
3.Members who support the expansion of the museum's
collection through annual gifts of $100 or more for
Filipino art acquisition, and who enjoy programs
related to Filipino art connoisseurship. Members meet
at an annual dinner and Filipino fiesta to help select
a new Filipino art object for the collection.
4.Members who study and support Filipino art and
culture at the museum
5.Members who have a special mission to assist the
museum's fundraising by supporting and organizing
special Filipino performing art events and exhibitions
Because of the low activity in donating Filipino art to the museum,we are accepting the responsibility in increasing low art collection presence from the Philippines at the Asian Art Museum. We believe that its our responsibility to help increase membership, volunteers, and donors of Filipino Art.We believe that including ethnic and ancient Filipino textiles, historical Filipino literature, Filipino tribal art,historical Filipino paintings, and other archaeological artifacts from the Philippines can help educate and teach our neighbors about our heritage and history.
