The Alto Velo Bicycle Racing Club is dedicated to the development of racing cyclists in Northern California. The club is based in Los Altos, with 300+ members distributed from Santa Cruz to Sacramento. The club has both Men's and Women's Elite Teams, and a full range of other teams in all skill and age catagories. 2002 saw the Elite Men spin off a Tier III Professional team (Webcor Professional Cycling). Notable club members include Karen Brems (aka K. Kurreck - 2000 US Olympics team), Christine Thorburn (2004 US Olympics team), Linelle Northcott (Master Women Sprints World Record Holder), Mark Rodamaker (2003 Worlds Masters 55+ Points Race Champion, 2004 Worlds Masters 55+ Pursuit Champion), John Elgart (multiple Masters National Championships), Linda Elgart (multiple Masters National Championships), and various other national and state champions.
