Alto Velo Bicycle Racing Club is dedicated to the development of racing cyclists in Northern California. The club is based in Los Altos CA with nearly 200 members distributed from Santa Cruz to Sacramento. The club has a Men's Categorey I-II Elite Team, and a wide range of other teams in all skill and age categories. Notable club members include Karen Brems (aka K. Kurreck) - US Olympian, Women's World Time Trial Champion and Master Women's World Cyclocross Champion; Christine Thorburn - US Olympian; Katheryn Mattis - Women's National Road Champion and World Cup race winner; John Elgart - Masters National Champion in numerous disciplines; Linda Elgart - Women's Masters National Champion in numerous disciplines; and many other national and state champions.
