Being from Ottawa, which is just across the river from where he lives.  I read a lot about him.  He did have a girlfriend just before the last Olympics, but that ended after a short time.
    he was a guest on a french tv program, in which one of the hosts is openly gay, he told Alexandre that the biggest medal he had was in his bathing suit.  Alexandre found this hilarious.
   he was also on the Rick mercer Show, another openly gay host.  Alexandre was teaching him how to dive. I can only imaging how the host felt when Alexandre in his bathing suit would hold him to show him the proper way to start a dive.
    Alexandre knows he has a huge gay following and is very welcoming to this.  As for his being gay, I doubt that he is.  But, I have been wrong before.

Yes, that is the one.  My signature is at the bottom, by his feet.
 
It is weird that almost all of the diver designs I have done feature Alex, and a few other Canadian divers, considering that I am from the US.  I guess I just decide at the moment of creation what model or pose to use, and then find the shot that works the best for me.
 
I did a few of him as Icarus, and this was my favorite.
