Since no-one else has answered Gabby's call.......
There were 12 dan gradings down in Byron Bay on Sunday the 3rd August.
Congratulations go to (in order of appearance)
Shodan
Bill (Sandgate) and Peter (Byron Bay)
Erika (Byron Bay) and Michael (Griffith)
Anna (Byron Bay)
All were of high quality and it was finished off with some solid aikido by
Anna, who due to the odd number, had to complete her grading by herself.
Nidan
Mark Evans (Sydney/Byron Bay) and Rod (Griffith)
Jo (Byron Bay) and Mark (Byron Bay)
No surprises here, nage's were on fire. Some nice techniques, including a
comment from Andrew Sunter that Rod got him good :)
Due to the control, expertise and finesse of the following three people, the
Sandan's were all done together with Graham (Lismore) on the far left, Tonia
(Logan) in the middle and Danny (Griffith) on the far right. It was hard to
keep up with all the action :)
Graham gave his usual high quality aikido. If you ever want to see the
50,000 variations of any technique, it's always a good bet to watch Graham.
Tonia once again proved that she can mix it with the boys with a grading she
would have to be happy with.
Danny (hehe), anything I say here is going to be thought to be biased. Some
good flowing aikido with nice control of uke (okay I admit it, I mainly
watched Danny :)
All in all, it was a great day of high quality aikido followed by a good
meal at a local restaurant. I'm glad I got to be a part of it. It was
great being thrown around by those above and I look forward to the next
time.
