Regional Spotlight
Each week, we pick a regional Web site to highlight, to give you a look at what's going on with AYSO regions around the country. This week, we look at Region 198 where Shannon Hawkins is the Regional Commissioner. Region 198 is located in Section 9, Area R.
If you would like your region highlighted, make sure your Web site URL is up-to-date on eAYSO. Just send your URL information to Joan at the NSTC and she'll do the rest. |

AYSO Hall Of Fame Correction
The Goal Line of March 19, 2007 contained a teaser about AYSO Hall of Fame inductees Brian Hall and Jack Sullivan which contained incorrect information.
The reference to Mr. Hall being the "first American Born FIFA referee" should have more accurately stated that he was the "first United States born official chosen by FIFA to referee a World Cup."
The reference to Mr. Sullivan was also incorrect in that it referred to him as having "brought AYSO to Hawaii." Mr. Sullivan is a soccer pioneer in the state of Hawaii and often referred to as "Mr. Soccer," however, it was Peter and Jackie Chaffey "who started to organize the sport of soccer through AYSO" in Hawaii. Obviously, it was not our intention to minimize the Chaffey's importance to AYSO.
We apologize for the errors.
Please keep an eye out for the official announcement and related biographies of both Brian Hall and Jack Sullivan in upcoming AYSO Publications. |

Caucus Leaders Need Topics At the AYSO National Annual General Meeting (NAGM) each year, the section directors, area directors and regional commissioners meet in groups to foster communication, share ideas and concerns and make requests regarding AYSO programs, policies and procedures. The Caucus Leaders for the 2007 NAGM in New Orleans have been selected. Click here to find out who will be leading these important meetings. The caucus leaders are soliciting topics for discussion at the caucuses. Members are encouraged to submit their ideas for the RC Caucus or the AD Caucus by April 14, 2007. |

An online course containing much of the information needed for U-10 Coach certification is now available on the AYSO Online Training web site. Volunteers interested in learning more about coaching these young players can be directed this site to get the basics, then need only attend a field session in order to get the certification. As with the other AYSO Online Training courses, access is limited to currently registered volunteers, and an AYSO Volunteer I.D. number will be needed to get on the site. Click here to learn how to access the AYSO Online Training site. |

Attention Regional Commissioners
The time is fast approaching when you will need to access eCerts Online to issue the Certificates of Insurance to the owners of the property where you practice, play games or hold meetings. The certificates issued last year expire on June 30, 2007. The new certificate will be available online after April 15, 2007 and is good from July 1, 2007 until June 30, 2008.
For complete instructions on using the eCerts Online system, download the AYSO User Guide located just under the login screen on www.soccer.org. Please remember that the holder(s) of the certificate are the owner(s) of the property and NOT you or the AYSO region. Also, certificates are issued to school districts and not individual schools unless it is a private school. If you have any questions, please contact the NSTC at 800-872-2976.

Duplicate Volunteer Records
As many eAYSO users already know, it's not unusual to encounter more than one record for a volunteer. You shouldn't just delete a duplicate record for a volunteer since there may be training certifications and other information about the volunteer's involvement that should be retained. CVPAs and regional commissioners have the ability to merge the data from two or more duplicate records. Learn how by reading Merging Duplicate Volunteer Records, AYSO's latest Hint From The Help Desk. | |
