Ask The Coach...
Everything You Wanted To Know But Were Afraid To Ask

Coaches have to deal with all sorts of scenarios week in and week out. Each week John will address a question that has been sent in by an AYSO coach. This week's question is:

"What can I do when players want the same jersey number at the start of the season?"

Training Activities Spotlight
"Lion King" Is An Activity For A U-6 Team

"Lion King" works on dribbling skills for U-6 teams. You will need four or more cones to mark the grid, and one soccer ball for each player.

Organization:
Create a 20 by 20 yard grid with the cones. All players will have to play within the grid and each player will have a soccer ball.

How The Game Is Played: At the start of the game, players lie face down on the ground with their heads on the ball and their eyes closed. When the coach shouts, "Mufasa," the players jump up and dribble their ball to the coach. Players must attempt to grab the coach's hand as he moves around the grid.

Variations: Have players use only the left foot or right foot.
