Referees must make quick decisions, and the luxury of time to think it over, look it up or discuss it with someone is not an option during the game. Test your knowledge and see if you can answer the following questions:
There are eight different ways to restart play in soccer. Although the likelihood may be next to impossible in some cases, what should the referee should do and how should play be restarted in the unlikely event the ball goes directly into the players own goal from each of the eight restarts? Assume the ball is correctly put into play in each case which might include some help from a strong wind or rebounding off the referee or the goal.

As the AYSO National Referee Administrator, I often receive inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, interpretation of FIFA Law and AYSO modifications.
Well it finally happened! I led you astray with one of last week's questions. I could say I did it on purpose to see if anyone would catch it but I can't say that and several people did catch it.
Correct my error by adding no more than four new words and you cannot delete any words. Here is last week's question and answer.
Last Week's Question: Joe, please help settle a dispute. When is it appropriate for a penalty kick to be awarded because the goalkeeper illegally used his hands inside his own penalty area? Ron
Last Week's Answer: And the winner is...NEVER! On page 110 in the current Interpretations of the Laws of the Game and Guidelines for Referees in the back of the Laws of the Game it states, "Inside his own penalty area, the goalkeeper cannot be guilty of a handling offence incurring a direct free kick or any misconduct related to handling the ball."
