Ask The Coach...
Everything You Wanted To Know But Were Afraid To Ask

Coaches have to deal with all sorts of scenarios week in and week out. Each week John will address a question that has been sent in by an AYSO coach. This week's question is:

"How should I deal with U-12 players playing soccer for the first time? My more experienced players are getting frustrated at times with the new players. "

Training Activties Spotlight
"Pac Man" Is An Activity For A U-10 Team

This week we're trying something new with Hey Coach. Instead of giving you just a text explanation of our Spotlight Activity, we are also giving you a link for excerpts from the Let Em Play DVD, which will illustrate the activities. Let us know what you think about this new format. Do you like the videos and the text? Do you just want one or the other?

"Pac Man" works on dribbling with your U-10 team. Each player needs a ball, but one, the "Pac Man." You will need four cones to mark the grid.

Organization: Using the cones, mark a 20 by 20 yard rectangular grid. Choose one player to be the Pac Man. Place all the other players in the grid with a ball. The Pac Man does not have a ball.

How The Game Is Played: When the coach yells, "go," the Pac Man attempts to kick the other players balls out of the grid. If a player's ball is kicked out, that player also becomes a Pac Man. Keep playing until there is only one player left with a ball in the grid. That player wins the game.
