Are you starting to feel some ankle pain or shin pain? Try incorporating these exercises in your daily routine. These exercises will help strengthen your ankle and help you with balance and gluteus medius strength. Gluteus medius weakness contributes to a lot of lower leg injuries. Try doing these exercises on both ankles 3 times a week.
1) Single Leg balance with a ball in your hands held above your head, making big circles like a halo above your head. Do 30x counter clockwise/ 30x clockwise.
2) Single Leg balance with eyes closed. If eyes closed is too difficult keep them open. Head bops forward and backwards 30x/ head bops side to side 30x.
3) Single Leg balance with opposite foot glides. Hover opposite foot along the ground to each spot on an 8 point star. 12x to each spot on each leg.
4) Single Leg balance with 3 point touches: 10x each spot. Standing on one foot, reach with both hands to a spot directly in front of you towards the ground. Do the exact same thing to your right and left side. Try not to kick your opposite foot up and keep it hovering next to your standing foot. Make sure you keep a slight bend in your knee.
