This weekend, 15 (or 16) year old Robert
Fletcher won the ACA Bronze Medal (Victoria) at his first attempt. Robert
started well with a triple in his first game against Ken Bald and finished
with 2 triples in his 7 wins from 9 games. Runner-up was Stephen
Forster and third was Rod Kirk, both also on 7 wins.
Robert and another first timer to the
Bronze Medal, John Smith, were recently awarded ACA scholarships to play
in the New Zealand Open in January 2009 (Chloe Aberley from NSW was also
awarded a scholarship).
Robert will represent Victoria in the
ACA Gold Medal event in Sydney in March 2009. Representatives from
other States will be Albert Rutten (SA), Ernie Melville (Qld) and Tim Murphy
(NSW). I am unsure of the Tasmanian and WA representatives as these
events do not appear in the World rankings list as yet.
