The Victorian Golf Croquet Open Singles
Championship was held at the weekend on the much improved courts at the
Victorian Croquet Centre at Cairnlea. Top dressing in March has left
little evidence of the ridges that have plagued the tournaments at the
Centre since it opened all 12 courts about 12 months ago. Incidently,
players at a recent Trans Tasman Association Croquet Squad weekend were
also impressed with the improvement.
The Championship had 17 entries and
was organised into round robin best-of-3 seeded blocks of 4, 4, 4 and 5.
The top two players in each block on matches, games then net points
went through to the finals.
