not break the KC defense. On Indy's first drive QB Big Ben was
intercepted by KC DB Corey Chavous on his own 19 to set up the Chiefs
on Indy's 6 yard line. 2 plays later KC QB Grossman hooks up with WR
Isaac Bruce on a 2 yd TD. With 2:51 to go in the first, Indy decides
to go for it on 4th and 3 from KC's 40 and the screen play was broken
up. KC QB Grossman connects with TE Eric Johnson for a 3 yard score.
Indy gets on the board in the second with a Vinatieri 42 yard FG. Indy
starts to drive again and Big Ben is intercepted again, this time by
KC DB Ty Law. KC kicks a 28 yard FG to extend its lead to 17-3 at the
half. Indy scores the only points in the 3rd quarter with a 41 yard FG
by Vinatieri. Indy also starts the 4th quarter with a 49 yard
Vinatieri FG. KC QB Grossman unable to move the ball since the 1st
quarter comes on when he needs to and hits WR Bruce for his 2nd TD of
the day with a 32 yard strike to move out in front 24-9. Indy unable
to convert on 4th and 17 seals the deal for the Chiefs who owe this
one to the defense for keeping the Colts out of the end zone. KC stays
at home for week 2 with a matchup against Minnesota.
