I voted yes for this due to the fact that it is for dire circumstances only, but I think it should include the 9th inning as well.  The CM will makes this move, so it should be allowed for a non-CM game.  I just had the CM remove my last rated 3b for a ph in the 9th inning of a game.  The game ended in that inning, but a non-rated 3b would have been inserted had the game continued.  Any close and late situation should be allowed.  It should not happen frequently since every team must have a minimum of 2 players rated per position anyway.  Also, the use of non-rated catchers should not be allowed.

A team may use a player in a position for which he

players on the bench rated for that position.

Rationale: The game levies a penalty on players
playing a position they're not rated for. I think
that's a reasonable price to pay for the ability to
use certain pinch hitters late in the game. Which is
not to say that any player could play anywhere under
normal circumstances.

I suppose we could eliminate any players that have an EX or VG power or arm.

The ALOOO Will have 2 Leagues the American and National, but should we have 4
teams in 6 divisions? or 6 teams in 4 divisions?

The schedule will be as follows for each option. 4 Division, 6 teams in each
division. you will play each division team 12 times and all other teams in the
league 6 times.

6 Division, 4 Teams in each division you will play all teams in your division 16
times and play all other teams 6 times.

Playoffs for the 4 division 6 teams, would be both division winners and the next
2 best records regardless of division for each league.
Playoffs for the 6 division 4 teams, would be the 3 division winners and the (1)
non-division winner with the best record for each league.

   o 6 Divisions, 4 teams per division
   o 4 Divisions, 6 teams per division

Should in-season trading be allowed? If Yes, remember that we play on a monthly
schedule so if The San Juan Tsunami trade for Johan Santana on June 5th after
the database has been released. The Trade will not take effect until after all
of June's games have been played. The Tsunami would then only get the exact
number of remaining starts allowed for Santana.

Pro's - This would help playoff teams who feel they need to acquire a player for
the stretch run, it could help rebuilding teams get draft picks or young players
in return. It can help speed up the rebuilding process for teams and make for
interesting playoff races.

Con's - Due to the fact that we report monthly. You could possibly trade for a
player and not get them for a month. Stat tracking for teams making trades will
have to be monitored closer, as penalties would then be on the owner who has
that player at season's end.

   o Allow In-Season Trading (Yes)
   o No In-Season Trading (No)

I voted no for this one. There is to much room for abuse. I can
see a play-off team for example, cutting their back up catcher (after
he has been used for most of his at bats) to pick up a catcher with an
EX arm rating. I would switch my vote to yes if you could only pick
crappy ballplayers.

** Note ** This was the first ALOOO series to be played in front of a
live audience. Kevin and Andrew watched the series live over the
internet with TeamViewer software which worked very well.

Game 1
Coral Springs 10, Eight Men 4

Coral Springs jumped on Roger Clemens (0-1) for four first inning runs
en route to a 10-4 victory in Game 1 of the NLDS. Clemens allowed 4
hits and 2 walks in his rocky first inning and allowed 8 hits, 6
walks, and 6 runs in his 4 innings of work. Paul Konerko and A.J.
Pierzynski each had 3 RBI in leading the Sixers 13 hit attack. Mike
Mussina (1-0) scattered 11 hits over 8 innings for the win and Tim
Wakefield pitched a scoreless ninth inning. Aaron Hill (8M) had the
only home run of the game.

Game 2
Coral Springs 7, Eight Men 4

The Sixers got out to a fast start again in NLDS Game 2, scoring 5
second inning runs off of Eight Men starting pitcher Jason Schmidt
(0-1). Chien-Ming Wang (1-0) got the win for Coral Springs, pitching
out of trouble all night as he allowed 12 hits over 6 innings, but
only 4 runs. Ruddy Lugo and Huston Street (Save-1) pitched the final
three innings allowed no runs. Troy Glaus (CS) had the game's only
home run and Justin Morneau and Matt Diaz (8M) had 3 hits each.

Game 3
Eight Men 7, Coral Springs 5

Eight Men had a come-from-behind 7-5 win over Coral Springs in NLDS
Game 3. Down 7-3 in the eighth inning, 8M torched the Coral Springs
bullpen for 2 runs in the eigth and ninth innings to pull out the
victory. Justin Morneau (8M) hit a 2-run eigth inning home run that
tied the game and Grady Sizemore's ninth inning double was the game
winning RBI. Bobby Howry (1-0) got the win in relief of Roy Oswalt
and Andy Pettitte (0-1) lost in relief of Greg Maddux. Mariano Rivera
recorded the save for Eight Men.

Game 4
Eight Men 6, Coral Springs 7

Game 4 was an ALOOO instant classic. Coral Springs took a 5-3 lead
into the eighth inning when Eight Men exploded for 3 runs to take a
6-5 lead. The slumping Alex Rodriguez led off the inning with a solo
home run, Justin Morneau tripled followed by a Huston Street wild
pitch that allowed the tying run to score. Rumor has it that there
was a swarm of locusts on the field at the time. Then Kenny Lofton
tripled and Raul Ibanez drove in the lead run with a sacrifice fly to
left field. Eight Men took the 6-5 lead into the 9th inning with
Mariano Rivera on the mound looking to tie the series for Eight Men.
Miguel Tejada led off the inning with a single to right field. Marlon
Anderson, pinch hitting for AJ Pierzynski, hit into a double play
leaving the Sixers with only one out to go. Michael Cuddyer singled
up the middle and then Troy Glaus took a 2-1 fastball over the left
field wall for a walk-off homerun. Guillermo Mota (1-0) got the win
in relief of C.C. Sabathia and Rivera (0-1) got the loss. Josh
Beckett started for Eight Men. Also hitting home runs in the game
were Paul Konerko, Miguel Tejada, and Michael Cuddyer, all for Coral
Springs. Justin Morneau (8M), Miguel Tejada (CS), and Michael Cuddyer
(CS) all went 3 for 4.

Game 5
Eight Men 2, Coral Springs 6

Game 5 was another close game decided in the late innings. Coral
Springs had a 2-1 lead going to the eighth inning when Grady Sizemore
homered to tie the game at two. In the bottom of the eighth, Michael
Cuddyer hit a huge 3 run home run off of Mike Myers leading to a four
run inning as the sixers pulled away with the lead and the series
victory. Mike Mussina (2-0) pitched a complete game for the win and
Bobby Howry (1-1) got the loss.

Eight Men outhit Coral Springs .331 to .273 in the series, but the
deciding factor in the series was Eight Men allowing 29 walks in 5
games while Coral Springs allowed only 9 walks in the series.

Batters of Note:
Eight Men: Matt Diaz .615, Grady Sizemore .533, Justin Morneau .524,
Derek Jeter .364, Carl Crawford .300, Alex Rodriguez .100
Coral Springs: Miguel Tejada .450, Marlon Anderson .400, Michael
Cuddyer .400, Troy Glaus .389, Manny Ramirez .278, Johnny Damon .158,
Barry Bonds .105

I am working on the rosters and hopefully will have them finished this
evening. For those of you who can't wait. I have the rosters file
posted as far as I have it completed so far on the 8 Men files page,
under the ALOOO 2008 rosters excell file. I have 5 more teams to
complete.

Lary - Thanks but I don't need the players who played in both leagues
this year, I am getting the stats directly off of the mlb.com website
and they have the multiple teams/leagues nicely seperated and easily
added together at the same time.

Nice job on the splits again as usual!

Lary,

If AAA and AA count as leagues then for the Memphis Queens, "We're going to need a bigger spreadsheet".

Yes, I have added the "s" to the team name. It's more fitting to the talent level.

Stay tuned to the "RENAME THE MEMPHIS QUEEN CONTEST FRANCHISE" to be announced after post-season games have concluded. It's sure to the highlight of the up coming off-season.

Lary,

Thank you again for doing this. This is a lot of work and always useful to everyone in the league, and its appreciated that you do this every year.

I am not sure who is pulling together the new rosters, but it would
make their life a lot easier if we posted which players on our teams
spent time in both the American and National leagues.

For my team that would be Scott Proctor and Ty Wigginton.

Hi,

Under my folder I have created two files. They are the lefty vs
righty breakdowns for hitters and pitchers. They are sorted by At
Bats, Ave, OBP, and Slu for both lefty and righty sorts. There was a
lot of cutting and pasting to put this together, if anyone finds an
error please let me know ASAP.

All,

Thanks again to everyone for being on time with thier stats. There are a few overages but certainly not like last year. There are three minor overages with playoff teams but nothing that will make a difference. So the playoff match ups are as follows:

American League
(4)Colorado Rams @ Montreal Shipwreckers(1)
(3)Palm Beach Thunder @ Da Bums(2)

National League
(4) Coral Springs 626ers @ Eight Men Smout (1)
(3) San Juan Tsunami @ Green Bay Glory(2)

Congratulations and good luck to all playoff teams.

The playoff database will be out tonight and lets try and have them played by next Wednesday. According to the Constitution these games are to be played HTH. Please include a short write up for your series.I also believe we have the ability that if anyone wants to watch these playoffs we can do that. Contact Dave for that info.

Also, we need three managers for our expansion. I would rather have people we know then go and recruit so if you know of anyone please let me know.Trading does NOT begin until after the expansion draft so lets try and move quickly on this.

Lastly, if you have any rules proposals for next year please let me know so we can vote on them, I know I have at least one Id like to see. I will create polls after the World Series ends.

Kevin

Allan,

I dont think you had a pathetic season at all.  The requirements are I think fairly simple but if you have any questions just ask, and I will do my best to help you out.

I look forward to seeing you build that team up, we need good managers like you.

Kevin
