Fellow Austinites,

I want to congratulations all the folks that had a chance to attend either the
Gay Games in Chicago, or the World Outgames in Montreal this summer. Being in
both cites for a short period of time during these events I can tell you that
the atmosphere and energy was nothing I have experienced in any sort of Pride
event or Party. There is so much purpose that pours out of these sporting
events, and you can feel it everyone who is participating and/ or attending.

So, do you every get the feeling there is no one "gay" who does the sport that
you enjoy??. Well listen up, its not true, and I can't tell you how important
and refreshing it is to participate and compete among your newest group of peers
from around the world. These events are an excellent place to make friends.
Every event I have attended, I have made new friends for life, with memories I
will share forever. (Not sure if I am going to share the pictures, though!)

As I had planned to be at the Gay Games in Chicago for years now, it nearly
devastated me not to be able to participate due to a family emergency. With
little notice, I quickly planned my trip to Montreal, and competed with athletes
from all around the world, including some of Olympic caliber. It made my
summer!!!

So if you have not participated or think there is no way you could participate,
think again!! These events are all inclusive, and nothing would please me more
then to see a larger representation from our Austin crowd. My friend who
participated in cycling at both events just picked up his bike this year, and
also managed to win a medal!!! So, if you have not already done so, pick
your sport, grab your gear, grab you team, save your money, and start
practicing!! And if you are a cyclist with the HCRA and you choose to attend,
and can take a bike on a plane, with minimal deconstruction, and I will
personally help put each and everyone of your bikes back to together when they
arrive.

We have so much more to chose from now, and we will not have to wait four more
years as in the past . The Federation of Gay Games will be in Copenhagen in
four years and the Gay and Lesbian International Sports Organization (GLISA) not
only will be in Copenhagen in 3 years for the second World Outgames, but have
already put in place a North American Games planned for April 2007 in Calgary.
GLISA has even pledged to make a south of the border run in the not to distant
future, could you image going to Mexico City , Sao Paulo, or Rio de Janeiro to
participate in a sporting event???

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email me, I will be happy to
answers them. And if you are not already a member, join
TeamAustinTexas@yahoogroups.com.

For those folks that attending either event this summer, please share your
story on the TeamAustinTexas@yahoogroups.com and help drive Austin's
representation!!

Summary:

Lonestars Rugby Bachelor Auction
Saturday, May 13th at 8pm
Rainbow Cattle Company

Greetings:

Your friendly neighborhood rugby team, The Austin Lonestars, are fundraising all
this month to send the club to New York City over Memorial Day weekend and
represent our beloved city in the Bingham Cup rugby tournament
(www.binghamcup.org). The tournament, held every two years in honor of United
Airlines flight 93 hero Mark Bingham, calls on over 40 men's teams from ten
countries to battle it out and determine the best predominantly gay/bi rugby
team in the world.

As part of this effort, the Lonestars are holding their biggest event of the
year, the Lonestars Rugby Bachelor Auction. Everyone is invited, so please come
by Rainbow Cattle Company on Saturday May 13th. Festivities begin at 8pm, but we
recommend arriving early to get a good spot. You can bid on your favorite
rugger, and winning bidders each receive a prize package specially selected to
go with each bachelor. There will also be a silent auction, t-shirts for sale,
and plenty of surprises! There is no cover to this event, but donations will be
accepted at the door.

Austin Lonestars RFC wishes to thank Rainbow Cattle Company, Lonestars
supporters since 2003, for their commitment to the Austin rugby community and to
gay sports and recreation in Austin.

Thanks and we hope to see you at the auction!

Would you like to learn more about the Hill Country Ride for Aids coming up this
April?? Where do the donations go and how you can ride, help , or even

will be at my house in the morning. So come by for the Cocoa Social, even if
you do not plan on riding in our training ride!!
Hello Biker Buddies!!
Well...it’s here!!! The first official ride of the Hill Country Ride for Aids
Training Ride Program. We would like to start this year off by inviting everyone
to the Official Kickoff Ride of the Hill Country Ride for Aids Training Ride
Program. We ask that you join us early for Cocoa and Pastries, meet up with old
friends from last years training rides, and begin making new friends long before
Ride day in April. We will offer advice on how we designed our training ride
program, what to expect on the road and rules that we ask all to follow, and
finally a mini- clinic on one of the most important topics that everyone needs
to know... how to change a flat!!!
This easy and flat, 12 mile starts on Shoal Creek, heads south down to 38th
Street, and back north on Bull Creek Rd, to Hancock Road where it rejoins Shoal
Creek and heads North all the way to 183 before returning back down Shoal Creek
to my house at 4615 Ramsey Ave. This is a great inner city ride, on city streets
with plenty of bike lanes. There are a couple of major thoroughfares to cross,
but none too busy on a Saturday morning. This ride offers a great chance for
beginner bikers to ride with light traffic and learn the rules of the road
before heading out on some of our longer, busier rides. Come and join us!!!

It is a magazine for guys who are guys that happen to be gay. It
covers sports, fitness, nutrition, health, fashion, entertainment,
travels, and so much more.
I am looking for writers and contributors if anyone is interested. Especially if
you belong to a rugby league or volleyball league
I have an article this month about a new flag football league that is starting
up

Sincerely,
Chris

your members to participate.

There are over 25 events being offered during the games and they are open to
anyone over the age of 50 years old. Residents of Travis, Hays, Williamson,
Caldwell, Burnet, Bastrop, Blanco, and Lee counties may enter any event without
pre-qualifying at a local games site.

Athletes can find out more about our games and register at our website:

It's time to make good on the challenge that was made last year at Pride!

The Austin Lonestars Rugby Football club is preparing to take on the BIG BAD
WOOFS of Softball Austin.

Come out Sunday May 22, 2005 for a great day of softball and stick around,
because at 4:00 pm on Field 2, The Austin Lonestars are going to be taking on
the Big Bad Woofs in a game to introduce the rough and tumble rugby men into the
world of SOFTBALL. Bring your lawnchairs, coolers, softdrinks or beer, but
please no glass bottles! If you bring your dog, be sure to make sure that he or
she has plenty of water and is on a leash. We want this to be a big event, so
please share this information with all of your friends!

The other half of the challenge is when the BIG BAD WOOFS will take on the
Lonestars in a game of Rugby, That will be an experience.

Please forward to all of your friends and let's get a big crowd out there! It's
time to gear up for summer and get excited about the activities going on around
town.

There's nothing like yoga under a blue Texas sky with plenty of fresh air! The
weather's been so wonderful lately, we've decided to move the YOGAy classes
outdoors. We're researching locations, trying to find a good spot with plenty of
shade and a good yoga surface. If you've got any suggestions, please let us
know!

YOGAy Sunday will return in May as a monthly to semi-monthly event. Call
512/220-6353 for updates, and the schedule of upcoming classes.

To get your first class for just $5, look for an invitation to join our Yahoo
Group in the next few weeks. Just fill out the email survey you receive upon
joining, then return it and make a reservation for the class.

(So we're putting the Sunday classes at Austin Yoga School on hold - we were
getting plenty of reservations, but the gorgeous weather was keeping people away
at the last minute. Thanks everyone for calling and keeping us posted!)

Also in previous emails, I forgot to mention that we'll be contributing 15% of
our proceeds to a different charity each quarter - for April May and June it's
Project Transitions!

Thank you Jeremy. I will await word from you. Who should our reporter talk

Also, we'll be in Austin on the 26th of this month for a show. Perhaps we
could meet with you for a moment that day?

Would any of your members we willing to pose for our cameras? It could
be some great exposure for your group. Even if noone is up for posing for our
cameras, we'd still love to do a feature story on your organization.

Currently we are San Antonio's only weekly gay magazine. Our expansion

LOGO documentary project...This could be of interest to someone?

Subject: LOGO documentary project...

Hi Austin folks,
I'm developing a documentary project for LOGO, the new LGBT network Viacom and
MTV Networks are launching in February '05. The doc. will follow three gay or
lesbian athletes as they learn, compete, train, or otherwise engage with the
world of sports - and have a story to tell along the way. So I'm getting in
touch with teams, leagues, etc. who might have interested (and interesting)
players.

We're looking for three individuals who are going through a process that we can
document. (For example, training for a national-level event... preparing for a
gay or lesbian league tournament where a parent will attend for the first
time... dealing with a rivalry with a former partner or lover... overcoming a
lifelong fear of the field just in time for the annual family reunion football
game... etc.)

Obviously, there are a million stories out there as there are individuals, and
we'd like to hear as many as possible.

I was wondering whether you'd be interested in letting potential players know
about this project, so that they could get in touch with us if they're
interested in participating? I'd be happy to send along a 'call for stories'
that you could distribute by email or post at practices...

Let me know -- my office # is 212.654.6208, or email me here.

Best regards, and I look forward to speaking with you!

Hello All

October 4, 2004 is the deadline to register to vote in Travis County. You must
be registered by October 4, 2004 in order to vote in the General Election on
November 2, 2004.

There is a link on www.agsr.org to register in Travis County Texas, or to verify
your Voter Registration Status.

I will also update the page with Early Voting locations to make it easier for
you to find a polling place.

Did you know that in Travis County, we are given TWO FULL WEEKS to cast our
ballots? Early voting is the most convenient thing i've discovered when it
comes to participating in elections. From 7am to 7pm for TWO WEEKS, you can go
to any number of locations in Travis County, including most Home Depot
Locations.

If you have questions, or need more information, feel free to contact me.
