Hello folks. Trying to start a group for folks who love the outdoors
without having to pay group fees, membership fees, etc. It's a yahoo
group called Texas Men Outdoors. Take a look when you can.
Keep supporting your local teams. We all need bodies to put on the
field/court or whatever your playing surface may be. Take care
everybody.
Lou
I just found this yahoo group and am excited to join.
I am a huge college sports freak myself. I love to play and watch.
I recently started a new Men's Health and Fitness magazine called "Mens
Chronicle" You can see it at www.menschronicle.com
It is a magazine for guys who are guys that happen to be gay. It
covers sports, fitness, nutrition, health, fashion, entertainment,
travels, and so much more.
I am looking for writers and contributors if anyone is interested. Especially if
you belong to a rugby league or volleyball league
I have an article this month about a new flag football league that is starting
up
Sincerely,
Chris

There's nothing like yoga under a blue Texas sky with plenty of fresh air! The
weather's been so wonderful lately, we've decided to move the YOGAy classes
outdoors. We're researching locations, trying to find a good spot with plenty of
shade and a good yoga surface. If you've got any suggestions, please let us
know!
YOGAy Sunday will return in May as a monthly to semi-monthly event. Call
512/220-6353 for updates, and the schedule of upcoming classes.
To get your first class for just $5, look for an invitation to join our Yahoo
Group in the next few weeks. Just fill out the email survey you receive upon
joining, then return it and make a reservation for the class.
(So we're putting the Sunday classes at Austin Yoga School on hold - we were
getting plenty of reservations, but the gorgeous weather was keeping people away
at the last minute. Thanks everyone for calling and keeping us posted!)
Also in previous emails, I forgot to mention that we'll be contributing 15% of
our proceeds to a different charity each quarter - for April May and June it's
Project Transitions!

Subject: LOGO documentary project...
Hi Austin folks,
I'm developing a documentary project for LOGO, the new LGBT network Viacom and
MTV Networks are launching in February '05. The doc. will follow three gay or
lesbian athletes as they learn, compete, train, or otherwise engage with the
world of sports - and have a story to tell along the way. So I'm getting in
touch with teams, leagues, etc. who might have interested (and interesting)
players.
We're looking for three individuals who are going through a process that we can
document. (For example, training for a national-level event... preparing for a
gay or lesbian league tournament where a parent will attend for the first
time... dealing with a rivalry with a former partner or lover... overcoming a
lifelong fear of the field just in time for the annual family reunion football
game... etc.)
Obviously, there are a million stories out there as there are individuals, and
we'd like to hear as many as possible.
I was wondering whether you'd be interested in letting potential players know
about this project, so that they could get in touch with us if they're
interested in participating? I'd be happy to send along a 'call for stories'
that you could distribute by email or post at practices...
Let me know -- my office # is 212.654.6208, or email me here.
Best regards, and I look forward to speaking with you!

Hello All
October 4, 2004 is the deadline to register to vote in Travis County. You must
be registered by October 4, 2004 in order to vote in the General Election on
November 2, 2004.
There is a link on www.agsr.org to register in Travis County Texas, or to verify
your Voter Registration Status.
I will also update the page with Early Voting locations to make it easier for
you to find a polling place.
Did you know that in Travis County, we are given TWO FULL WEEKS to cast our
ballots? Early voting is the most convenient thing i've discovered when it
comes to participating in elections. From 7am to 7pm for TWO WEEKS, you can go
to any number of locations in Travis County, including most Home Depot
Locations.

Town Hall on Marriage Equality May 13th.
The Human Rights Campaign (http://www.hrc.org) and the Lesbian/Gay Rights Lobby
of Texas (http://www.lgrl.org) will hold a town hall on civil marriage equality
on Thursday, May 13, and I wanted to invite everyone to attend.
The topic of civil marriage equality has been pushed into the limelight by
several recent events: Massachusetts will start issuing marriage licenses to
lesbian and gay couples on May 17th, several cities have already issued marriage
licenses to lesbian and gay couples, and President Bush wants to
add discrimination to the U.S. Constitution with the Federal Marriage Amendment.
This town hall will educate you about the issues so you can talk about it with
friends and family. You will find out how it affects us in Texas, and how you
can get involved in working for equal marriage rights.
The town hall will feature five panelists:
- Randall Ellis, Executive Director of the LGRL
- Bo Shuff, HRC
- Karen Langsley, family attorney and parent
- Jeff Lutes, family therapist
- Dr. Jim Rigby, pastor of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
Date: Thursday May 13
Time: 7:00 pm
Cost: free
Location: AMC Barton Creek 14 theater inside Barton Creek Square Mall on
Thursday, May 13 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm (use the mall entrance between Nordstrom
and Sears).
For more information, visit http://www.hrcaustin.org or call

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for two strong people and a big butch truck. No, it's not to
fulfill some fan.tasy - it's to help with the Hill Country Ride for A.IDS. April
23 - 25. This team will be responsible to pull a large trailor equipped with a
high pressure water sprayer and water tank. They will follow the last rider on
each day, and help clean off any safety chalk we've sprayed on the route roads
for rider safety. Due to the weight of the pressure water rig, we need
something like a F150 V8 or Chevy 1500 V8 (at least) or greater with a standard
(not 5th wheel) tow package. If you know anyone who might be able to help,
PLEASE have them call me ASAP. My cell is 619-8427.
Peace!

Hey everyone!
The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is happening next month, April 24 & 25th!
Already, participants involved have raised over $134,000! INCREDIBLE!
If you are unfamiliar with the Ride, it is in its fourth year benefiting
local agencies like AIDS Services of Austin, Project Transitions, and
Interfaith Care Alliance. Learn more about the ride at
www.hillcountryride.org. This ride historically has one of the lowest
overhead costs of any fundraiser, giving greater than 70% to the
benefiting agencies. This ride happens because of the volunteers and
riders. And, to keep it going we need volunteers to sign up!
Signage along the ride's route is very important and helpful so our
riders do not get bummed out on a lonely hill country highway, lost on
the route or get hurt from a road hazard. Signage inspires the riders,
warns them of road dangers, identifies turns, and alerts riders about
roaming livestock (seriously!). We need volunteers to help put the
signs out each ride morning for that day's route. We make it as fun and
quick as possible, so that you can cheer riders on etc in other areas
of the ride. We especially need volunteers who have trucks, SUV's, or
stationwagons (maybe you could even borrow one from a friend). The
signs, although not heavy, are bulky and take up some room. This is a
great way to experience the early morning dew and a sunrise in the
Hill Country, while preparing the route for the 300+ riders who are
raising over $300,000 for our Austin area folks living with HIV/AIDS.
Please pass the word on to your social and work networks and let us know
if you can volunteer. Contact us with any questions you may have about
volunteering!

Do you want to be a part of making this year's VIVA! Las Vegas (11th
annual) the biggest and best ever? VIVA! Las Vegas is an annual
fundraiser for AIDS Services of Austin (ASA) that combines exciting
faux gambling, awesome entertainment, fantastic food, incredible
shopping opportunities (auctions) and over 1,200 of Austin's most
fabulous people.
What does it mean to be a part of the VIVA! Production Committee? It
means attending some meetings, selecting a committee role that meets
your desired level of involvement(Committee Chair, Committee Member,
As-Needed Member/Volunteer, Event Volunteer), working with awesome,
dedicated people, and, bottom-line, it means having fun.
At this point you might be asking yourself: "When is VIVA! 2004
anyway?." The answer is: Saturday, June 19, 2004.
So what do you say, are you interested in helping to create this
year's VIVA!? Do you want more information about that that means? Are
you busy the evening of Tuesday, February 3rd? If not, come by ASA's
offices and see why being on the production committee is a must for
2004. See meeting details below. If you are busy but want to know
more, call me, we'll talk.
Regards,
Eric McMillan

Hi Guys:
The little old gay rugby team (Austin Lonestars) is playing a big ol'
straight rugby team from UT. The match is tomorrow, Saturday, Jan 31,
at 2pm at Zilker Park (to the far *right* of the volleyball courts,
near Barton Creek). Parking across the street is usually available.
Come on out and cheer us on! We need ya'll.
