Greetings:
Have you ever thought of playing rugby, but assumed learning the game would be
too difficult?
Your friendly local rugby team, the Austin Lonestars, will be running their
first annual Rookie Camp this coming weekend to teach newbies the game. This is
a great opportunity to learn in a relaxed atmosphere from some of the top
coaches in Texas and the USA, as well as veteran players from Australia (a rugby
hotbed).
Starting Saturday morning you'll begin learning about the game and some basic
skills, and by Sunday afternoon you will be playing in your first rugby
scrimmage and officially declared a rugger!
Some details:
When: Sat. Sept. 9 and Sun. Sept. 10 from 11:00 to 4:30 (with a party after the
camp on Sunday)
Where: Burr Field, Austin Texas (on Loyola Ln. east of 183)
Cost: $15 in advance, or $20 at the camp
Bring: t-shirt, shorts, mouthguard, cleats, proof of health insurance
You get: professional coaching, Lonestars Rugby t-shirt, lunches and water, beer
and food at the "3rd Half" party on Sunday.
On Saturday night the Lonestars will be hosting a Welcome Party in conjunction
with the UT-OSU game (watch the game on a big screen). Details will be provided
at registration.
This camp is limited to the first 40 registrants. Check your calendar and sign
up today!
