Greetings Austin Gay Sports & Recreation,
On behalf of the San Antonio Pridefest planning committee, I'd like to
invite the various Austin sporting organization to attend Pridefest 2003. This
annual celebration to promote Pride, Inclusion, and Diversity among the gay and
straight communities of San Antonio also provides funds for a number of
Non-Profit organizations such as BEAT-AIDS, Metropolitan Community Church, Alamo
City Men's Choral, S.A. Gay & Lesbian Community Center, and Amethyst Scholarship
Fund, to name a few. If you haven't attended this San Antonio celebration,
you're missing out!
This year's Pridefest will be held Saturday, June 21st at Crockett Park @
1300 N. Main Ave. from noon to 11pm. The event includes food, drink and
merchandise vendors, a health fair with free HIV/STD testing, diabetes and
hypertension screenings, volleyball tournament, various entertainment acts
throughout the day, and concludes with a night parade. We hope your
organizations will accept this invitation and attend this festive event. If any
would like to participate as vendors or parade participants, space is still
available.

In addition, this will be the first year to include a "Gay Day" at Fiesta
Texas to extend San Antonio's gay pride celebration to two full days. The theme
park has agreed to provide discounted tickets for the Friday, June 20th event.
The $27.99 tickets are available at the San Antonio Gay & Lesbian Community
Center (611 E. Myrtle) which provide entry to the park and a Bar-B-Que meal
served at 5:30. If your organizations are interested in attending the "Pride
Day" at Fiesta Texas, we could arrange for prepaid tickets to be mailed in
advance. We're encouraging participants to wear a red shirt or a "pride" shirt
to show our support of this event.

Since San Antonio isn't that far, this may make for a nice weekend getaway.
