RE: [ACTHF] ACTHF - Finding Representatives to Fill an ACTHF Board

Perhaps you can offer some suggestions and discuss where you feel there is a need for organization?  I think most of the TH players here in the US play at fairly local clubs, and while rules may vary to a small degree, the guys in Chicago would certainly recognize what we play in Central PA as table hockey.  In terms of rankings, taking Subbuteo as an example, you can increase your standing simply by playing in more santioned tournaments......so the "travellers" tend to be higher ranked.  I don't think we have a great number of US TH players that are willing to travel long distances, with a few exceptions.  I doubt if imposing an organizational structure is going to change that.  The sheer size of the US makes organization diffcult, in Subbuteo we have 6 regions to cover the lower 48 rather then concentrating on where the clubs are today, because you never know where the next club will spring up.  We have such a governing body here in the US for Subbuteo because it is part of a global game....much more popular in Europe and with an International Federation.  If that wassn't the case, I don't think we'd have a US association.  Then there is the whole issue of Stiga versus non-Stiga to overcome.  Not being a "nay sayer", just not convinced of any need.

Subject: [ACTHF] ACTHF - Finding Representatives to Fill an ACTHF Board

(I posted this at Table Hockey Tavern, Yahoo! Group. I guess I
forgot to post this here and re-write it a bit.)

I'm putting this out to everyone to chew on.

We have a name, ACTHF, but we lack a management team that
represents "America."

I think we are approaching or at the point to create a board or some
structure, however loose, here in the States for table hockey. Not
guided by one person, but a group. A group from different regions.
Currently, I could see input from Massachusetts, greater New York
City, Chicago, Detroit, central Pennsylvania, So. California and
elsewhere.

Maybe two representatives from the areas where table hockey is strong
and one rep. from areas where it is less strong. Each with a voice
and a vote.

I don't think people want some group to be god on high, but it would
help to create structure here in the States.

Your thoughts, if any?
