Congratulations to Martin Labelle for defeating Burt Brassard in the
Elite Division finals of the NY City International Classic. Martin
was the best player of the day in a 22 player field, winning the
Empire Cup, $250 prize money, and was also the worthy recipient of
the NYCTHA Founders Award for Dedication and Service to the Sport of
Table Hockey.
Dave Kraehling (Super Dave!) finished in third place in the Elite
divsion.
Len Mecca won the First Division final defeating John Power.
Congrats Len!
Thanks to all of the Canadian players for taking the time and
trouble to support the NYCTHA and competing with us in New York.
Many of the spectators who saw you play table hockey in the
Aviator Complex were very, very impressed--as were the other
players!
NYCTHA Classic League Champion Lou Marinoff finished fourth in the
tournament, defeating several players on the day, including top
ranked player Patrick Cote. The NYCTHA Classic league had three
players (Roger Owens and Greg Scoma the others) finish in the top-
ten.
While the day was far from perfect, it was a special day made
possible by many people, but most of all the players who took the
time and made the effort to support me and the NYCTHA. For this we
are most grateful and look forward to supporting the Quebec tour of
tournaments and our great friends north of the border in Canada.
Merci beaucoup!
John Power
