Re-Print : Comparison of Table Hockey Games   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #36 of 618 |
This was a scientific study of several table hockey games. The
objective was to determine :

How much of the ice surface is contested space, that is, where 2
players can get to and do something with the puck?

vs.

How much of the ice surface is solo space, that is, only one player
can get to the puck and the other player can do nothing but wait.

Here are the results:

GAME-------CONTESTED---SOLO--TOTAL---CONT---SOLO-----GAME------GAME
TYPE------------AREA---AREA---AREA---AREA---AREA---LENGTH-----WIDTH

STIGA------------29%....71%....556....164....392....32.5"....17.75"

COLECO 5340------41%....59%....694....282....412....34.5"....20.50"

IRWIN PP2--------54%....46%....504....274....230....32.5"....15.75"

COLECO 5380------66%....34%....638....420....218....34.0"....19.00"

Lengh in inches +/- 5% error margin. (1 in. = 2.54 cm)
Area in square inches (sq. in.)
Contested area: Both players can get the puck
Solo Area: Other player can go for a coffee break!

Benej, BOS, Munro lovers, please let me know if you are out there,
somewhere,...I would like to measure your games and include them for
the ACTHF archives.

regards,
aj5380

Very cool set of numbers AJ. Coleco 5380 is the game for contested ice. In real hockey 100% of the ice is contested so 66% is much closer to real life hockey...
