This is the match announcement for our Friday April 24th & Saturday April 25th match. It will be 8 stages, with a minimum round count of 96, and a maximum target distance of 40 feet. Show-up time for both days is 09:00. You may shoot either day, but not both. There will be time to shoot the match twice on Friday.
Please make sure your request for a slot includes the Day, the Division, and the Classification you want to shoot. If you have not shot a match with us in the past 6 months, also include your IDPA number, Expiration date, and whether you are an AAFG member. Thanks and SIGN-UP BEGINS NOW!!!
First time through I missed a few score sheets. Here are amended
results with all the scores from yesterday that are available to me and
legible.

Shooters;
Here are the combined scores for Friday's match and Saturday's
rain-soaked match. Two hours in a convection oven dried the score
sheets to the point where I could handle them without risking their
disintegration. The scores are also posted at www.aafgidpa.com.
We had a number of DNFs because the miserable weather conditions forced
us to run the match a lot slower than we normal do. In the case of
Osborne, Kobayashi, and Sedlar, I applied their stage 7 scores to stage
8 and was able to give them a final score for the match. Others missed
both stages of a setup, so I couldn't extrapolate, and therefore had to
mark them as DNF.
See you all next week and here's hoping for better weather!
- Jack
Adios for now and may the Good Lord take a liking to you.

1) The squad rosters for our Sunday April 19th Match # 1 (In Your Face) & Match # 2 (Classifier) is below. If you are on the list and cannot attend, please advise. If you have signed up for either match and are not on the respective squad list, you are on the wait list. Show-up time for Match #1 is 0900.
2) Due to the overwhelming response to the match announcements, we have to make two modifications to our plan. The first is the option of shooting Match 1 a second time will be limited to (A) those not signed up for the afternoon classifier, and/or (B) those working as Safety Officers in Match 1. The second is we will not have an afternoon practice bay as we need all the bays for the classifier. If you signed up for both Match 1 and the Classifier and decide you would rather shoot Match 1 a second time instead of the afternoon Classifier, you will have the option to switch on the day of the match.
3) For those who have only signed up for Match 2 (the classifier), show up time is 3 PM.
4) For any changes or questions regarding this match, reply directly to this email.
Shooters
Just a reminder - the eagle scout candidate will be catering bagels,
muffins, and coffee on Saturday morning. If you plan on eating breakfast
out on Saturday - please consider this option before stopping at McDonald's,
etc.
Thanks
Dave Cloutier

This is the announcement for our AAFG IDPA matches on Sunday, 4 19 09. It is a “sanctioned” day so we have from 10AM till dusk.
Match 1 (show up time 9AM) is a short range match entitled “In Your Face.” It will have 15 stages, a minimum round count of 115 rounds, and target distances of 3 - 18 feet. There will be reloads on the clock. There will be the opportunity to shoot this match twice for those who want.
Match 2 is a classifier (show up time to be announced when we find out how many sign up for Match 1, but it will most likely be between 1:30 and 2:30 PM). Bill Osborne will be the match director. There also will be 2 practice stages on the bay not used for the classifier. Fast Eddy and Blind Pete are putting together these stages that hopefully will involve a real door and a knob. There will be no sign up for this practice. This practice will be limited to those who have shot Match 1 (and have not signed up for Match 2).
You may sign up for Match 1, Match 2, or Both by replying to this email. Please include the match, Division, and classification you plan on shooting with your request. Thanks and SIGN-UP BEGINS NOW!
The squad roster for our Friday April 10th match is below. If you are on it and cannot attend for any reason, please advise. There are still slots available for this match.
The CoF will consist of 8-stages with a minimum round count of 96 and target distances out to 48'. There will be enough time available to shoot the match twice for those interested, so bring enough ammo. Show-up time is 0900. Thanks,

Quick reminder on our weather policy. An email announcement will go out no later than 06:45 AM advising of a cancellation of a match for any reason. No email, then we're shooting. If the weather doesn't allow us to shoot the planned CoF, then our default CoF will likely be a plate-rack match. This is decided once we've arrived at the range and surveyed the ground conditions. With the forecasted rain; boots, a towel or two, and extra ammo wouldn't be a bad idea.
The TRUTH about the “90% of Guns in Mexico come from the US”
statement made by certain members of congress and the “BO”
administration. Enjoy then write your Senator and Congress rep about the truth!
This is a preliminary notification and not a match announcement (so do not hit the reply button to signup).
Thank you for your responses to my query yesterday. We now have a plan for Sunday 4/19/09.
There will be a 12 stage (in your face) short range IDPA match in the morning. Those who want it will have the opportunity to shoot this match twice. There will then be a lunch break for those who want it.
Beginning at about 2:30, we will reserve 2 bays for a classifier (the classifier received the most votes in the survey).
For the third bay, we plan to have 1 or 2 practice stages, including a stage with a real door with a working knob (to provide a change from the wooden bianchi barricade that looks as old as I am and that we have been using as a knock down door). The plate rack match (which received the fewest votes in the survey) will be reserved for our rainy days.
The sign up announcement will come out 10 days before the match.
As you may already know, there will be an extra IDPA match day at AAFG this month. It is Sunday 4/19 and we have the entire day (one of our "sanctioned" days). For the morning we will have a 12-stage (In your face) match with target distances from 3-18 feet and a minimum round count of 92. There should be time to shoot the match twice for those who want. The short distances will make it BUG gun friendly (although it will be a regular match with on-the-clock reloads).
My estimate is that there will still be plenty of time left over as we have all day. On the theory that one should never let a shooting day go to waste, we need a plan for the afternoon. That is the reason for this e-mail.
For Sunday afternoon 4/19 beginning at about 3 PM:
How many of you would be interested in a classifier?
How many would be interested in a plate match?
How many would be interested in practicing a door stage (assuming we get the door we have been promised by then)?
This is not a sign up announcement. I just want to get an estimate of shooter interest. Please let me know if you are interested in any or all of the above. If anyone has suggestions for something else that afternoon, let me know that also.
This is the combined match announcement for our Friday (04/10) & Saturday (04/11) match. The Cof will be the same for both days and consist of 8-stages with a minimum round count of 96 and target distances out to 48'. Show-up time for both days is 0900.
You may choose one day or the other, but not both. The only difference is Friday shooter's should have the option to shoot the match a second time assuming interest and available SO's.
Please make sure your request includes the Division, Classification and Day you want to shoot. If you have not shot a match with us in the past 6 months or so; also include your IDPA number and Expiration date, and whether you are an AAFG member. Thanks and SIGN-UP BEGINS NOW!
The squad roster for the Friday April 3rd match is below. If you are on it and find you cannot attend for any reason, please advise. The CoF will consist of 12 stages with a minimum round count of 130 and target distances out to 35'. Bring enough ammo to shoot the match twice if we have enough interest and SO's. Show-up time is 0900.
The are still slots open for this match. Please include the Division and Classification you would like to shoot with your request. If you have not shot a match with us in the last six months or so (or if you have changed or updated your information), also include the following: IDPA number, Expiration date, and if you are either an AAFG member and/ or IDPA Safety Officer. Thanks,
1) Attached are the combined results from our 3/27 & 3/28 AAFG IDPA match. I have noted the date of the match next to each shooter's name. Although we will do our best to keep the COF identical on both days, it is conceivable that, for some COFs, some minor variations might creep in between the two days. So if the scores are very close and you want to compare your score only with those who have shot on the same day, we have made it convenient for you to do so.
2) As you know. this was the first of our experimental Friday/Saturday regular matches. We wanted to enable more people to shoot and take some of the rush/stress out of Saturday setup. We know we increased the number of shooters (we had a combined total of 40 runs compared to a maximum of 24 that we can handle on a Saturday). But now is the time for your feedback. Let us know what you think of the experiment. Should we keep doing it or scrap it? Are there ways we can amend it to make it better?
This is an update on the Course of Fire for the Friday 4/3 AAFG IDPA match. The information I gave Allen for the match announcement understated the number of stages and round count. There will be 12 stages, a minimum round count of 120, and target distances from about 3-35 feet. Bring enough ammo.
This is an stand alone Friday match (no Saturday match to follow) and therefore we will have to take down the stages after the match. For this reason, there probably will be no second runs (unless we have both enough time and enough people who want to shoot twice that we can handle the takedown). So if you are both an addict and an optimist, bring a whole lot of ammo (and maybe a cart to haul it).
Attached are the results from the first half of our 3/27 & 3/28 Match. The combined results will be posted after tomorrow's scores are tabulated. It was fun shooting with all of you today.
This is the match announcement for Friday April 3rd. The Cof will consist of 8 stages, have a round count of 96, and target distances out to approximately 40'. Show up time is 0900.
Please include the Division and Classification you plan on shooting. If you haven't shot a match with us in the last 6 months, also include your IDPA number, expiration date, and whether you are an AAFG member. Thanks and SIGN-UP BEGINS NOW.

Here is a revised list of the VA Indoor Regional results that includes the awards for those who have shot with us at AAFG IDPA during the past year or so, as have been reported to me by several of the participants. The posted scores do not show the awards so, while these are believed accurate, they are not guaranteed.
The results from the 2009 VA Regional have been posted on the IDPA web site.I have listed the results below for the 18 shooters that I recognized as having shot at AAFG IDPA during the past year or so. I could not find a list of the awards attached to those results. If someone has it, send it to me and I will send it out.
"Our matches are possible only through the efforts of our volunteer IDPA Safety Officers. Without our safety officers, there would be no matches. You will note that a couple of weeks ago we ran a two-day classifier (with a total of 61 shooter runs). This week we are having our regular match in two parts: we have 20 shooters signed up Friday and 22 shooters on Saturday. This is a total of 42 shooters and no wait list. If we had just run the match on Saturday (and everyone wanted to shoot, there would have been 18 shooters left out (because we could only handle 24 on Saturday).
Why am I telling you all this? It is because there is a consequence to increasing the number of matches. We need more qualified IDPA safety officers. Recently, we have been using 8 safety officers for our regular Saturday 8 stage matches (4 primary safety officers and 4 back ups). When we increase this to a double match, we double the number of safety officers required.
What would I like you to do? First, if you are not an IDPA safety officer but would like to become one, please let us know. We are trying to set up an IDPA safety officer course in the near future. Note that you do not have to be a high ranked shooter or even a particularly experienced IDPA shooter to benefit from this course. The course is primarily about range safety and will benefit shooters at all levels. Second, if you are an IDPA safety officer but have not been used as such at AAFG in the past 6 months, please advise. The records of who has completed the IDPA safety course are not complete, and even if they were our memories may not be perfect, so we may simply be unaware that you are an IDPA safety officer.
We seem to be doing something right at AAFG IDPA at least as judged by the number of people who want to sign up for our matches. We would like to keep this up but we can do it only we have enough safety officers so that we can rotate them from time to time and not burn them out."
Also, I know I promised to forward a few of you the following, then decided it was worth putting it out here: Joe Dickey of Corsica Coatings http://corsicacoatings..com/Home_Page.html is now handling MD FFL transfers (and also provides a fired case service) for a fair price for those who need it. He also does custom coatings (both slide and grip texturing), AR-15, AK's and rifle work, Glock grip reductions (for example, he did Blind Pete's G21SF), and sales on consignment, along with being a Class III manufacturer he can do Short barreled shotguns and rifles as well as suppressors. His shop is 25 minutes over the bridge from AAFG. You can reach him directly through the above website or send an email to Joe at corsicacoatings@...
The squad roster for our Saturday March 28th match is below. If you are on it and find you cannot attend for any reason, please advise. The match will consist of eight stages with target distances out to 35' and a minimum round count of 96. Show up time is 09:00.
There are still slots available for those interested in shooting. Please include the Division and Classification you plan to shoot with your request. If you have not shot a match with us in the last six months (or updated any of the following) also include your idpa number, idpa expiration date, and whether you are an AAFG club member. Thanks,
