Lefthander Francisco Liriano allowed one run on two hits in six innings, and the New Britain Rock Cats opened the season with a 5-1 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Thursday in the first game at the new, unnamed riverfront stadium in Manchester, N.H.
Kevin Cameron pitched three innings of one-hit relief for the Rock Cats against the reigning EL champions, who received their rings before the game.
New Britain scored three runs on three hits in the third as Tommy Watkins homered and Luis Maza and Gabby Torres had RBI singles. Gil Velazquez added a two-run double in the fourth.
