Syracuse Skychiefs press release
March 17, 2004 - The Syracuse SkyChiefs defeated the
Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats today by a score of
2-1. The game marked the first contest of the spring
for Syracuse after yesterday’s scheduled game against
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was postponed.
Dominic Rich belted a solo home run and Tyrelll Godwin
scored on a Shawn Fagan sacrifice fly for Syracuse’s
two runs. Mark Lukaziewicz, signed by Toronto to a
minor league contract this off-season, tossed a
scoreless 5th inning for Syracuse and struck out a
pair of New Hampshire batters.
Gustavo Chacin (2 IP) started the game for the
SkyChiefs and was followed by Bruce Chen (1 IP), Adam
Peterson (1 IP), Lukasiewicz, Chuck Kegley (2 IP),
Jordan DeJong (1 IP), and Derek Lee (1 IP).
New Hampshire scored its only run on an RBI single by
Rob Crosby.
The SkyChiefs will play 16 more exhibition games
before heading north to open the 2004 regular season
at P&C Stadium on April 8 at 4:00 PM against the
Rochester Red Wings.
