Regina(CP) In a shocking pre draft day deal the Regina Cyclones traded the most
successful pitcher in their history to Algonquin for the rights to the first
overall pick in tommorow's draft.
Oswalt's record over the three seasons with the Cyclones was an amazing 54-16
including two 20 win seasons. However, the depth of the Cyclones starting
staff allowed the team to make a move for one of the young starting pitchers
available in tommorow's draft. While the team is in dire need of some power
hitting, Cyclones GM Jim Werschler stated clearly that it will be a pitcher
chosen with the top pick.
"We feel that there are three pitchers who could become number one starters down
the road". The Cyclones will enter into contract negotiations this evening in
anticipating of locking one of the three up before the draft commences.
