If the top of the seatback of the stock seat comes to the midpoint or higher
on the helmet of all your drivers, then yes, you can use the stock seat.
The rules say that purpose built racing seats are strongly encouraged, but
it does not say they are REQUIRED. What IS required is spelled out in the
first sentence of the rules.
Seriously, this isn't rocket surgery. The rules say what they mean and mean
what they say. If Jay wanted to require SFI/FIA rated seats, it's be super
easy for him to write a rule that made purpose built racing seats the
requirement.
But, he didn't.
