Hi, my name is Eileen, I am 35 years old and have one 6 year
old daughter. I have owned 2 horses and leased 2 horses in my
lifetime. I was forced to give them up due to not enough funds
comming in to support them. It was one of the hardest things I've
ever had to due.
I still cry when I think of them. My first horse I leased was a
percheron crossbred with I have no idea, but he was 17 hands. His
name was Mt. Snow my friends said I should have called him Avalanche
instead. I had no saddle that would fit the both of us because he was
so big and I am so small, so I always rode him bareback. That is more
fun anyway. The 2nd horse I owned was a Quater Horse named Bright
Cobbelierro, I was told that meant Bright Gentleman. He was a bit
firery under the saddle but very smart. He was a horse from the rodeo
that use to rope calves. Then later I found out by accident that he
was also trained as a cutter. One day when all the horses at the farm
he was boarded at had gotten loose and I was riding Cobb (as I use to
call him ) and we rounded up all the horses except one Appaloosa. The
App. tried to get away, But Cobb sprung into acction without me even
having to tell him what to do. He cut off the other horse and pinned
him into an area so that the owner could grab him. I have never heard
of a horse trained in 2 areas of riding like that. It was fun just
sitting there and letting Cobb show his stuff. The 3rd horse and my
ablolute favorite was Apachee, an Appaloosa. He was mine, from the
minute I got on him we just clicked and I had to buy him. We were
soul mates. He was a liver brown with a white blanket on his hind
quarters with liver brown spots. Very pretty horse. Smart too. I only
had him for 3 years and I can't talk much about him. Hurts too much.
The 4th and last was another App. who won 4 Champion shows. 2 in
Canada and 2 in the USA. Her name is Stardiver. She is a strawberry
roan and 16 hands. I don't see her any more, but her owner takes good
care of her and loves her very much. I use to work at a breeding farm
near me and the owner of the farm said I could lease her as long as I
worked there. I got severly sick after almost a year after I started
and was hospitalized for 5 days and was forced to give up heavey
work, so I had to say good bye to Stardiver. At least she is in good
hands.
Sorry to make this so long, but I thought you might want to know
about my back ground with horses. I have been working with them for
well over 20 years. Thankyou for your time.
Sincerely, Eileen
